Chromeo
An Arab/Jewish duo from Montreal that makes R&B-infused electro with enough laser beam noises, bouncy base lines and dry ice to get you roller skating backwards. We know. That sounds totally ridiculous. But similarly with Prince or Cameo, you can't help but appreciate it in some way, at least for a little while. And we don't mean "appreciate" in that point-and-laugh sort of way. Songs like "Tenderoni" and "You're So Gangsta" (on the debut album "She's In Control") are sheer infectious brilliance. It's the slower, Hall and Oates-inspired numbers that signal shot-taking or slow-dancing, depending on your sincere affection of '80s music. Chromeo most recently released "Fancy Footwork" on Vice Records.
